Theoretical and Relativistic Astrophysics in Uzbekistan
This presentation provides a concise overview of the development, current state, and future prospects of theoretical and relativistic astrophysics research in Uzbekistan. Over the past two decades, significant progress has been achieved in establishing internationally competitive research groups focused on general relativity, gravitational wave astrophysics, and the physics of compact objects. I will highlight key results from our group, including activity at the Institute of Theoretical Physics in Tashkent, in particular important work on the electrodynamics of neutron star magnetospheres in strong gravity, the extraction of energy from rotating black holes, and the testing of modified gravity theories using observational data from black hole shadows and quasi-periodic oscillations. The talk will also showcase recent breakthroughs in the development of new models for dark matter and dark energy, demonstrating the growing impact of the Central Asian relativistic astrophysics community on the global stage.
